A new daily weight-loss pill could soon change the way millions of people manage obesity — especially those struggling to keep weight off after stopping popular slimming injections like Wegovy and Mounjaro.
According to new research published in the medical journal Nature Medicine, the experimental tablet called orforglipron may help patients maintain much of their weight loss even after they stop taking GLP-1 injections, which are known to trigger rapid weight regain once treatment ends.
The study has generated major excitement among obesity experts because one of the biggest concerns surrounding injectable weight-loss drugs is what happens after patients stop using them. Many people regain a large portion — or even all — of the weight they originally lost.
Researchers now believe this new oral medication may help solve that problem.
