But her husband quickly realized something was wrong. He rushed to the front door and told her it wasn’t a routine pickup.
“He said, ‘No, somebody ran into the ditch,’” Thomas explained.
As he stepped outside to get a better look, the situation became clearer — and far more serious. Tire marks stretching across Thomas’ yard revealed the path the dump truck had taken before slamming into the neighboring house. The chaotic scene also included a car that had been heavily damaged in the crash, adding to the overall impact of the incident.
Thomas shared that her neighbor, who lives alone with his dog, was not at home at the time of the crash — a detail that likely prevented a much more tragic outcome.
