Something about the way she stared at me made my stomach twist.
Like she already knew me.
Like she’d been searching for me.
She stopped only a few feet away, tears filling her eyes as she looked at my face.
Then she pointed directly at my dad.
And said:
“Before you celebrate today… there’s something you need to know about the man you call father.”
Everything around me went quiet.
My dad froze.
I’d never seen fear on his face before.
Not real fear.
