Court records also indicate Evans had a criminal history prior to the case, with prosecutors describing him as a repeat offender.
During sentencing, Evans’ lawyer reportedly told the judge that his client hoped to rebuild his life after prison.
“He’s hoping for a future where he can make money legitimately and be part of society like the rest of us,” his attorney stated, according to CBS News.
Evans had originally pleaded not guilty earlier in the case and even rejected a similar plea deal back in March.
