What can damage the windshield?

  • Blasting it with a hair dryer or heat gun from inches away.

Those kinds of rapid, uneven temperature shocks can cause the glass to expand too quickly and crack. If you’re in a hurry, use a proper ice scraper or a commercial de-icer instead of a DIY heat attack.
