Winter Hack: The Right Way to Defog a Windshield (Without Ruining It)

No Working AC? You Still Have Options

If your vehicle doesn’t have air conditioning, or the AC is broken, you’re not completely stuck — you just have to manage the moisture another way.

Try this instead:

  • Turn the blower fan on high.
  • Set it to blow at the windshield (defrost mode if you have it).
  • Flip your visors down to push more air back against the glass.
  • Crack the windows slightly to let humid air escape and dry air come in.

It’s not as fast as using a working AC system, but it still helps remove warm, moist air from the cabin and replace it with drier outside air — which means less fog.
