Trump’s Giant New White House Ballroom Sparks Clash With Architect Over ‘Golden Rule’

The president’s ambitious plan for a massive new White House ballroom has reportedly led to a serious disagreement with the architect he personally chose for the job.

Back in August, it was announced that the East Wing of the White House would be “modernized” to make room for an ornate, 90,000-square-foot ballroom. The new venue is designed to host up to hundreds of guests at a time, with a projected price tag of around $300 million and a targeted completion date of 2029.

Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted he will fund the project entirely through private money, at “ZERO cost to the American Taxpayer,” as he put it on Truth Social. In the same post, he promised that, once finished, the space would be “the most beautiful and spectacular Ballroom anywhere in the World,” and “the most important” addition to the White House since the West Wing.

But behind the big promises, reports suggest there’s been growing tension with architect James McCrery II, the designer Trump personally handpicked to lead the project.
