Despite the teasing, Trump has also acknowledged the constitutional limits on a third term.
He told MSNBC that, even though he’s felt strong pressure from some supporters, he doesn’t think a third run would be allowed under current law.
“I have never had requests so strong as that. But it’s something to the best of my knowledge, you’re not allowed to do,” he said.
He also noted that “many people” are already selling “2028” hats, but insisted it’s not something he is actively planning.
Instead, he said he’s focused on having “four great years” and then handing things over “to somebody, ideally a great Republican… a great Republican to carry it forward.” In his view, “four years is plenty of time to do something really spectacular.”
