If you notice symptoms that concern you, have had a possible exposure, or simply aren’t sure of your status, the most important step is to get tested. Many clinics, community centers, and health services offer free or low-cost HIV testing and confidential advice.
HIV is no longer the death sentence it once was — but it is still a serious, lifelong condition. The earlier it’s diagnosed, the easier it is to manage and the better your long-term health can be.
