Governor Walz calls out the “cruelness”
Governor Tim Walz has also responded, addressing the president’s language in an interview on Meet the Press.
Speaking to Kristen Welker, Walz said the remarks reflect Trump’s broader “cruelness,” and highlighted the damage that using such terms can cause — especially to children and families living with disabilities.
“As an educator for a couple of decades and as a parent,” Walz said, “using that term is just so damaging.”
While the White House has not directly walked back the language, Trump’s team has continued focusing on building support among Republican lawmakers for their broader political agenda — even as some in their own party, like Bohacek, draw a line over how far they’re willing to go in backing him.
