Online backlash and wider criticism
Trump’s comments about Walz and Somali refugees drew intense criticism online once screenshots of the Truth Social post spread to other platforms.
Many users condemned both the way he described immigrant communities and his use of a slur aimed at people with disabilities. One commenter wrote:
“Imagine how miserable you must be to spend Thanksgiving writing something like that. He’s a narcissistically-wounded child lashing out until his rage sticks. The ‘leading cause of social dysfunction…’ is not refugees.”
Others pointed out that this is part of a pattern in Trump’s rhetoric — using inflammatory language about minority groups and resorting to insults that many people consider beyond the pale in public life.
