Pulled out some deli meat from fridge. My mother-in-law says it’s wasteful not to use it, but it looks bad to me. What should I do?

Clear signs your deli meat has gone bad

If you’re on the fence, your senses will usually tell you everything you need to know. Throw the meat out if you notice any of the following:

– A sour, “off” or funky smell when you open the pack.
– A slimy, sticky, or tacky surface when you touch it.
– Gray, brown, greenish, or rainbow discoloration on the slices.
– Visible mold, even in tiny spots.

Even if only some slices look strange, the entire pack is compromised. This is not the time to “just cut the bad parts off” and hope for the best.

Bottom line: if you’re already asking yourself, “Does this look okay?” there’s a good chance it’s not.
