During routine inspections, operators check that the chain is intact, long enough to drag, and free from excessive rust or damage. Any issues are fixed immediately to keep the grounding system effective.

In short, that little piece of metal quietly dragging on the pavement plays a big role in preventing fires and explosions. It’s one of those safety features most people never think about – until they learn what it really does.
