Safety tips before you start pulling doors off
Removing the oven door is not hard, but you do need to be sensible about it.
Always:
– Make sure the oven is completely off and fully cooled before touching the door or hinges.
– Use both hands and support the door from underneath – the glass and metal make it heavier than it looks.
– Keep kids and pets away while you’re working so nobody bumps you mid-move.
– Place the door on a flat, soft surface (like a towel on the floor or counter) to avoid scratching or cracking the glass.
– Check your manufacturer’s manual or website for any model-specific instructions.
Handled properly, this isn’t a risky job – but dropping a glass-front oven door definitely is, so don’t rush it.
