‘Party classic’: Just 3 ingredients. I’ve made this so many times I don’t even pause anymore.

These 3-ingredient chocolate caramel bites are one of those little treats that feel special without taking much time or effort—perfect for busy weeknights, school events, or a cozy movie night at home. They’re inspired by those classic chocolate-covered caramels you’d find in an old-fashioned candy shop, but simplified so you can make them in your own kitchen with kids helping at every step. You don’t need any fancy equipment or candy thermometers, just a warm oven or microwave and a few pantry staples. This is the kind of recipe you pull out when you want something sweet, homemade, and just a little bit impressive, without spending your whole afternoon in the kitchen.

These chocolate caramel bites are lovely on their own, but they really shine as part of a simple dessert spread. Serve them on a pretty plate alongside fresh fruit—sliced apples, strawberries, or grapes—for a nice balance of sweetness and freshness. They’re also wonderful with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a small bowl of popcorn for a fun movie-night snack board. If you’re hosting friends, pair them with coffee, hot cocoa, or tea after dinner for an easy, low-stress dessert that still feels thoughtful. For kids, you can add them to lunchboxes as a special surprise or tuck a couple into a small reusable container for an after-school treat.

3-Ingredient Chocolate Caramel Bites

Servings: 18–24 bites, depending on size

Ingredients

18–24 small soft caramels (store-bought, unwrapped)

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)

18–24 mini pretzels OR round buttery crackers (for the base)

Directions

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.

Arrange the mini pretzels or crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Place one unwrapped caramel on top of each pretzel or cracker.

Warm the caramel-topped bases just until the caramels soften: either bake in a preheated 300°F (150°C) oven for 3–4 minutes, or microwave a few at a time on a microwave-safe plate in 10–15 second bursts. The caramels should look slightly melty but not completely flattened.

Using the back of a spoon (or your fingers if they’re cool enough), gently press each softened caramel down so it adheres to the pretzel or cracker and forms a more even layer. Let them cool for about 10–15 minutes so the caramel firms up a bit.
