The first time my sister walked into our kitchen wearing nothing but a towel, I honestly thought it was an accident. Kayla had been staying with my husband Andrew and me for less than a week, after her six-year relationship ended and she suddenly had nowhere else to go. I knew she was embarrassed, broke, and emotionally exhausted, so I tried to give her space. The second time, though, I realized it wasn’t an accident. She knew Andrew was usually sitting at the kitchen table with his coffee every morning, and she knew exactly what I had already asked her not to do.
