The meeting ended up with Trump appearing open and even friendly towards Mamdani, despite previously threatening to withdraw federal funding from New York if he won.
For his part, Mamdani appeared affable towards the president, with Trump even saying he was fine with Mamdani calling him a ‘fascist’ in response to a question from the press.
Mamdani has since shared one unusual object in the Oval Office which caught his attention during the visit.
