14. Annoying Drips in Downspouts
That loud plink… plink… plink from inside a downspout can drive you nuts.
Cheap quieting hack:
- Tie a synthetic rope (like nylon) to a gutter hanger.
- Run it down inside the downspout.
- Drips will cling to the rope instead of free-falling and echoing.
Note: this slightly reduces flow and can catch debris, so avoid it on gutters that already overflow or clog frequently.
