10. Tiny Holes, Big Problems
Small holes in shingles or flashing can cause years of hidden damage before you notice obvious staining.
Watch for:
- Old satellite dish or antenna bracket holes
- Exposed or misplaced roofing nails
- Abandoned fasteners in flashing
Pull exposed nails and patch with flashing, not just caulk. Add a small patch of sheet metal under shingles or over the hole so water is directed away mechanically, not just “sealed.”
