US officials claimed more than 70 tankers are currently being prevented from entering or leaving Iranian ports due to the ongoing blockade.
Despite the growing military exchanges, President Trump insisted that a ceasefire agreement remains technically in place and that diplomatic talks could still continue. The ceasefire was originally intended to create room for negotiations aimed at ending the conflict that erupted earlier this year following joint US and Israeli military operations against Iran.
