In that moment, I made a clear decision: I wasn’t going to keep living under the control of people who could rewrite my life to suit their agenda.
“Yes,” I said. “Let’s try to make this work.”
We left the church and the version of our lives that had been built on manipulation. We didn’t know what rebuilding would require, but we finally owned the decision.
In the end, it wasn’t the wedding that turned my life upside down. It was the truth — and the chance to reclaim a love stolen from us.
