He pointed to the recent indictment of former FBI Director James Comey over a controversial social media post featuring the numbers “86-47” arranged with seashells. According to Greene, cases like that could blur the line between symbolic expression and genuine threats, potentially undermining public trust when authorities respond to more explicit dangers.
“The risk,” Greene explained, “is that if authorities pursue ambiguous cases too aggressively, it may lead people to question their judgment when a clear and credible threat emerges.”
