Frantic 911 Call and a Grim Discovery
The chain of events that led to Caleb’s arrest began with a frantic 911 call. He reported that his wife had been shot in their bedroom, claiming an intruder was responsible.
In audio later released by the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office, a distressed Caleb can be heard telling the dispatcher, “Somebody broke into my home. Somebody broke in my home and shot my wife.”
His panic escalated as he described the scene inside the house. “My wife, she’s got two shots to her head, there’s blood everywhere, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God,” he says in the recording.
He also mentioned that the garage door was “wide open” and repeatedly urged emergency responders to “please hurry,” insisting that an intruder had been inside the home.
Officers were dispatched to the couple’s residence in Tipp City, just north of Dayton, during the early hours of Monday, February 16, following reports of a burglary and shooting.
When they arrived, Ashley was pronounced dead at the scene. Caleb and the couple’s two children were inside the house at the time, according to police.
