The Tiles Tell a Different Story
Martha explained away the late-night trips as part of her efforts to renovate the kitchen, claiming she was replacing old tiles due to mold damage. However, the officers’ suspicions grew. The investigation revealed more disturbing details, especially when they examined the kitchen.
Anna’s innocent but precise remark about the tiles—“Where the tiles are a lighter color”—struck a nerve. Martha had insisted that the kitchen was in the middle of renovations, but Anna’s statement, pointing directly to the floor near the sink, seemed to confirm something more sinister.
