He’s bestowed more kisses than most generals ever could — and now, after nearly two decades of devoted service, Thomas, the Army’s most charmingly unruly gentleman, is taking his final bow.

The black gelding retired after almost 20 years of distinguished duty with the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. His farewell parade was marked by proud salutes, fond embraces, and — fittingly — those legendary, slobbery kisses that made him a barracks favorite.

Renowned for his affectionate nature, Thomas quickly earned a reputation as the regiment’s most unapologetic flirt. According to soldiers, all it ever took was a Polo mint or an apple to receive a full-fledged equine smooch — regardless of rank, title, or celebrity. Over the years, he charmed colonels, tourists, presenters, and troopers alike.

“Thomas is a big flirt,” laughed Trooper Nicholas Baines, his most recent rider and groom. “I’ve had more kisses from him than from any girl in recent months. We’re all going to miss him.”
