When I first picked it up, I had no idea what I was holding.

It looked old. Handmade. Carefully carved from wood. The two long pointed handles crossed each other perfectly, and the leaf-shaped top seemed too decorative to be a simple kitchen utensil.

At first, I thought it might be some kind of antique tool.
