- Add Weight for Better Winter Traction
If your rear-wheel-drive car struggles on snow and ice (poor grip on hills, fishtailing in curves), it probably needs more weight over the drive wheels.
Place a few water softener salt bags or similar heavy bags in the trunk. This extra weight helps the rear tires bite into snow and ice.
Note: This trick is for rear-wheel drive. It doesn’t help front-wheel-drive cars, though keeping some salt in the trunk is still useful for emergencies. - Quiet & Protect Your Wiper Blades with Silicone Spray
Winter road grime makes wipers squeal and chatter. To keep them gliding smoothly:- Clean the blades with mild soap and water.
- Dry them, then spray the moving joints and rubber with silicone lubricant.
